A Vegan Diet is Safe for Children

Vegan Diet for Kids

Research initiated by myself and completed by graduates of Cousens’ School of Holistic Wellness, involving 119 vegan children, whose diets comprised an average of 80% live food and 20% vegan cooked food, suggests that a vegan, live-food diet is quite safe for children. Vegan parents, who ate approximately 80% live food during gestation, had newborns with an average in the upper 58th percentile for weight. These newborns were in the upper 88th percentile for length, and their body mass index (BMI, comparing weight to height) was in the upper 71st percentile. Although height, weight, and BMI do not entirely define […]

The Light of Live Foods

The Spiritual Nutrition diet is a special type of spiritual vegan diet aimed at helping us transcend body consciousness, clean the koshas, calm the vrittis of the mind, clear the nadis, and expand the prana. For this reason, Spiritual Nutrition is more disciplined than a regular vegetarian diet, generally lighter and includes Spiritual Fasting and the taking of primarily live foods (uncooked roots, leafy vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds). These are called the food of the rishis (sages) or ancient Yogis, as well as the probable diet of the Essenes. Five effects of green juice fasting are: cleansing, rebuilding, rehydrating, […]

The Conscious Eating Kitchen

Conscious Eating Kitchen

Nutrition, Kundalini and Transcendence

The following  is an extract from the Chapter Nutrition, Kundalini, and Transcendence in Spiritual Nutrition Transcendence Transcendence is the extension of regeneration. Transcendence is the evolutionary process by which the vortex energy of the Kundalini progressively transmutes us from the gross matter of our bodies to a more refined and highly organized and energized Subtle Organizing Energy Fields (SOEFs). It is when the body is liberated from its traditional cellular confinement. It is the physical parallel to the transmutation of our consciousness to the Love of Unity Awareness. Eventually it takes us into complete absorption of our form into the […]

High-Versus Low-Protein Diet

The following is an excerpt from Spiritual Nutrition by Dr. Gabriel Cousens Fact and Fear The high – versus low-protein controversy is more an issue of fear and confusion than fact. The high-protein approach to nutrition was initially based on nineteenth-century German research that asserted people need a minimum of 120 grams of protein per day. This high-protein thinking lingers today, even though the requirement is now considered by conventional nutritionists to be 60–90 grams of protein each day. But expert research around the world suggests that the real protein requirement is closer to 25–35 grams, and less if the protein […]

The Benefits of Calorie Restriction

The secret of properly eaten live foods is that they restore health and promote longevity. The interesting question is: how do they do this? Let’s start with some of the basic information that has been known for centuries about longevity, as well as the more recent research starting back in the 1930s. Dr. Kenneth Pelletier, as part of his longevity research, studied cultures that had the highest longevity and created the healthiest people, such as in the Vilcabamban region in Ecuador (particularly the Vilcabamban Indians), the Hunzas of West Pakistan, the Tarahumara Indians of Mexico, and the Russian people of […]
