Happier Trails to You!

Traveling

Travel can be stressful whether you are going to visit family and friends, taking that perfect vacation you’ve been planning for 2 years or following your regular travel obligations. Travel can be especially hard our bodies so having a few simple tips and tricks to ease travel stress and jet lag is always handy.

Fortunately, Dr. Cousens has given us weary travelers a simple and effective way to help with jet lag (or car lag for that matter). Let’s not forget the dreaded ‘travel cold/flu’ while we’re at it. (Remember to keep in mind the current travel rules for liquids in carry on luggage and adjust bottle sizes appropriately. You can find very inexpensive glass bottles online that are within travel rules if following the 10 mL bottle instructions below.)

So, to get to our destinations a little more relaxed and healthy please enjoy the following excerpt from Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine by Gabriel Cousens, M.D. :

Using Essential Oils to Prevent Jet Stress

Essential oils have very powerful healing properties. Certain essential oils help during and after the flight. The following essential oil blends are offered so that you may make your own therapeutic potions to prevent jet stress.

JET LAG ESSENTIAL OIL BLEND

Lemongrass – 5 drops
Black Pepper- 1 drop
Grapefruit- 4 drops
Lavender- 5 drops
Tea Tree- 3 drops

Add essential oils to a 10 mL glass bottle. Fill the remainder of the bottle with a carrier oil. We recommend jojoba oil, as it does not become rancid. Rub oil on soles of feet before or during plane ride. It is a simple but effective way to combat fatigue and calm the mind. It is also antibacterial.

ANTIBACTERIAL SPRAY

Tea Tree- 3 drops
Lavender- 3 drops
Sandalwood- 3 drops
Eucalyptus- 3 drops

Add essential oils to a small glass spray bottle. Fill bottle with water. Spray into the air around your seat. It is nice to explain to your seat mates that it is an all-natural bacterial spray. This spray is an optional part of the protocol.
