Turmeric

It’s important to know that the vast majority of studies on turmeric have not examined the spice itself, but rather one of its constituents called curcumin. When you hear about the benefits of turmeric on a website or on a health news report on television, you are mostly likely hearing about the benefits of curcumin. This aspect of the health research can be very confusing! The dried powdered spice that many people use in recipes comes from the root (rhizome) portion of the plant Curcuma longa. The unprocessed form of this root bears a strong resemblance to ginger root, and […]

The Power of Blessing

The Book of Genesis tells us that Abraham walked before God as a blessing to the world. From that time until today, the power of blessing is a unique gift that we, as humans, may give to the world. We are often fooled by someone’s appearance – their age, illness, attitude, or we are just too distracted to realize that within everyone is a place of goodness and integrity, no matter how deeply buried. Often we are not present enough to witness it and neglect it due to our preoccupations. When we recognize the spark of God in others, we […]

Live Food Boosts Immunity

When we are healthy, the immune system naturally follows suit.  To feel energized and ready to tackle on whatever the day may bring, we rely on our immune system to keep us healthy and going strong. A strong immune system fights off viruses, heals wounds, keeps you awake and alert, and attacks anything trying to harm the body.  Fight off illness by protecting your body with food, one of the best preventative medicines. Chakras and the Rainbow Diet

Taken from Dr. Cousens book, Spiritual Nutrition It is useful to think about the multi-colored rainbow diet from a phytonutrient point of view. In my book Spiritual Nutrition and the Rainbow Diet, I correlate these colors with the chakras, beginning with red and the root chakra. Some of the phytonutrients that are associated with the red color are reservatrol, ellagic acid, and quercitin. These are found in tomatoes, watermelon, pink grapefruit, and cherries. For the color orange, we have the carotenes. They are found in mangoes, carrots, apricots, cantaloupe, peppers, squash, sweet potatoes, yams, and pumpkins. Yellow is limonene, found […]

Excerpt From Spiritual Nutrition

This is an excerpt taken from Dr. Cousens book Spiritual Nutrition Awakened Chakras Chakras are either awake or asleep. This is not the same as the activity level of a chakra, which is primarily associated with keeping our organism supplied with vital life force for our general functioning. The awakening of the chakras is primarily associated with the development of more evolved spiritual awareness. Dr. Brugh Joy has noted that an awakened chakra functions on a different level and that it feels and looks different to clairvoyants.8 When a chakra is awakened, it is part of a spiritually evolving process […]

Understanding Chakras

Taken from Spiritual Nutrition by Rabbi Gabriel Cousens, MD To more fully understand the process of Kundalini awakening and to understand the process of energy assimilation so we can create a diet that supports the Kundalini unfoldment, we must explore the chakra system as one of three main subtle energy systems of the human organism.. This lays the foundation for understanding the awakening of consciousness and relationship of nutrition to spiritual development. The chakra system is a subtle energy system that has been described for thousands of years in spiritual traditions. In Sanskrit, the word chakra means wheel. It has […]
